This session demystifies recent developments in all the main components of IoT namely, connectivity, hardware, internet and (software) platform. The terms IoT and IoT platform are differentiated and the developments in these four components are categorized. The latest developments in NB-IOT standards (3GPP Release 13 and 14) are reviewed in the context of PHY layer and network features; and various IoT standards are compared from a system as well as an application point of view. Future trends in IoT is presented from a system architect's perspective.

Dr. Ganesan Thiagarajan is currently the C.T.O of MMRFIC Technology Pvt. Ltd., Bangalore. He holds 15 patents in USPTO. He has authored several IEEE conference and journal papers. He was elected as IEEE Senior member in 2013.
Dr. Ganesan Thiagarajan received the B. E. degree in Electronics and Communications Engineering from Thiagarajar College of Engineering, Madurai, India in 1991, the M.Sc. (Engg.) and Ph.D. degrees in Electrical Communication Engineering from Indian Institute of Science, Bangalore, India, in 1994 and 2014 respectively. He has 20+ years of experience in the field of Signal processing and Communication system design. His research interests are in Channel coding, Source coding, MIMO Signal processing and their applications in Communication systems.
