About this event

We are very excited to announce our Open Source Networking Bay Area User Group's Inaugural Meetup of the 2018 New Year, which will be held on Friday, 02/09/2018 and hosted by Lumina Networks.

We will talk about ONAP and how it can orchestrate workloads into multiple clouds. We will also talk about OpenDaylight (ODL) and its new offerings on Oxygen and upcoming Flourine release, container networking for Kubernetes (K8s), and learn about a new tool from OPNFV Lab-as-a-Service.

There will be a special guest presentation, in which you will receive insights from a leading operator Verizon, on building a programmable network infrastructure using open source SDN technology.

Come. Connect. Enjoy. FREE FOOD AND DRINKS.

There will be five presentations, followed by an informal networking hangout with food and beverages readily available.

Titles and Abstracts of Presentations below:

Verizon’s Abstract: Building a programmable network infrastructure using SDN technology that enables service creation agility and service assurance intelligence.
This presentation will share Verizon’s planned network modernization journey map and new SDN ecosystem partnership approach it is exploring. Will share acquired insight by working with open source and standards based solution partners.

Updates on OpenDaylight Oxygen and Fluorine:
This presentation will be about the new offerings that the OpenDaylight community is working on in the current release Oxygen and will also be sharing an insight on what the community is planning for the future release (Fluorine). Anil will also provide details on the new interesting projects that's coming onboard to OpenDaylight, that widens the scope of use cases that users can solve using OpenDaylight and also provide solutions for some of the common problems every OpenDaylight based solution requires.

Container Networking - Brickbats and Bouquets
This talk will discuss container networking, its requirements and its special needs. What are the common pitfalls while networking for large-scale container orchestration systems like Kubernetes? And which new ways and technologies are on the horizon, which will decorate such container-based computing clusters. Enabling ONAP Workload Orchestration for Multicloud
This talk discusses an architectural vision of orchestrating workloads in for Multicloud. The key aspects for a comprehensive ONAP workloads orchestration are discussed, including deploying containerized workloads into k8s clusters on bare metal in edge cloud. ONAP MultiVIM component serves as a single platform for deployment and orchestration of containerized workloads as well as classical VM-based workloads in true multiple infrastructures, including clouds, k8s on CaaS/cloud, k8s on bare metal, etc. It simplifies workload management and improves ONAP’s user experience.
